So up to level 34 now and in the middle of expansion act. That's a ways off though, I won't start seeing that stuff for another 25-30 levels. So to build a truly awesome divine artifact, you have to cobble together a four or so smaller artifacts, then the two medium artifacts, and then combine them into the divine one. One thing about the artifacts that is sort of cool for the hardcore player is that higher-level artifacts require lower-level artifacts as part of their ingredient list. I should be able to do some farm runs after I finish the game on normal to get anything that I miss. My only gripe is I've been pretty unlucky with formula drops. I got some great loot in Babylon and my resists and DPS really spiked because of it. I'm boosting up Trance of Wrath on my Harbinger now (does some damage and lowers resists) and then am going to go back to Lucid Dream and Premonition for some pure DPS boosts. I know in my next playthrough I'll be beelining it from point to point, boss to boss, if I need more XP or skills to kill something I'll just do farm runs. The second and third acts seemed to pass a bit quicker than the first one, thankfully-I thought Greece dragged on a bit there. Up to level 30 now and near the end of Act 3. I give it 9 out of 10 Koreans befouling themselves in internet cafes while farming SoJs. The multiplayer is pretty worthless but I don't care as playing these games online in an open format just means having to deal with catassers and dupe-happy cheats. The sound work is solid, if a bit forgettable. The effects look really awesome, and fit the large amount of destruction that they accompany. I find it much more pleasing to play than D2, which looked pretty sloppy right when it came out. Visually, Titan Quest looks like a modern game, complete with an attractive, clean, and consistent art style. A lot of the game's masteries mix well together, and it's really great that you can reallocate skill points by just spending some money-it definitely allows for more experimentation and prevents the Diablo 2 style "I'll gimp myself for 40 levels to get X and X uber build" retardation. It's on a decent cooldown (but Titan quest has items to reduce ability cooldowns at higher levels), but's it damn awesome. Dream mastery has this really cool ability called Phantom Stike where you blink out of the world, move to the target you want to hit, and then reappear and deal some BRUTAL area damage. These things fix the problem of "man I don't want to use this because something else just as good might be around the corner", now you just toss it in and go, and if you really need it later you can recover it.

Similarly, the ability to unsocket out a valuable relic (think rune/gem from D2) to use it in an upgrade is awesome, as is the ability to remove a socketed item from an item without destroying it. Things like the caravan's transfer item feature makes twinking of other characters stupidly easy compared to Diablo 2-just throw the item in the trading panel and grab it on another character.

The thing I really like most is how well the expansion's features are tuned directly to improving core features most important to metagaming, which is all rogue-like games really are-one big loot and levels game with a lot of clicking in between, with the real end goal creating a character that can crush monsters in the most spectacular manner possible. I went out and got the original + expansion last week for $35 (yay sales) and I'm just digging it completely. When it came out and I was busy playing WoW like six hours a day anyway. I never played the original game-seemed a bit drab when I played the demo for it

That being said, I did want to pimp this release a little bit on GAF-it's spread like damn wildfire over the last week or so amongst the PC people I talk with most, and we're a bunch of jaded jerks, so it must be doing more than a few things right! This isn't an official thread or whatnot-given that the expansion has been out for a few weeks it seemed sorta pointless.
